In one line
UI UX Pro Max is a UI/UX skill that helps coding agents pick a style, palette, font pairing, and layout pattern for the product type, then bundle them into a design system before any screen is built.
Repository: nextlevelbuilder/ui-ux-pro-max-skill
Ask an agent for a landing page and you usually get a working screen fast. The trouble starts afterwards: familiar purple gradients, a new color code on every screen, and cleanup that takes longer than the build. UI UX Pro Max asks the agent to settle the pattern, colors, fonts, and things to avoid first. The repository has around 139,000 stars and is published under the MIT license.
Our earlier looks at mattpocock/skills and Superpowers covered development process: requirements, plans, tests, and review. UI UX Pro Max works on a different axis. It puts design decision data next to the agent: a searchable catalog of styles, palettes, fonts, and UX guidelines. You can run it alongside those process skills without overlap. Let Superpowers shape the workflow and UI UX Pro Max shape the screen.
We suggest starting with one new screen: a side project landing page or the first dashboard of an internal tool, where colors and fonts are not settled yet. Follow whether the recommended rules and anti-patterns survive into the implementation. That tells you quickly whether the skill fits your team.
What can you do with it?
The centerpiece is the design system generator in the README. A request such as "a landing page for my beauty spa" triggers parallel searches across product types, styles, palettes, landing patterns, and font pairings, then filters the matches through product-specific rules. The output covers a page pattern with section order and CTA placement, a style with keywords, primary, secondary, CTA, background, and text colors, a heading and body font pairing, anti-patterns, and a pre-delivery checklist.
According to the README, the catalog includes 79 searchable UI styles (50 active in normal recommendations), 192 palettes aligned with 192 product types, 74 font pairings, 25 chart types, 119 UX guidelines, and 192 industry reasoning rules. Each rule carries anti-patterns, such as avoiding AI-style purple and pink gradients for banking.
Search runs on CSV data and Python scripts inside the skill folder, not an external API. The README prerequisites state that the scripts use only the Python 3.x standard library, install nothing, and make no network calls. That makes the data flow easy to explain in a security review.
Stack guidelines cover 22 stacks, with HTML + Tailwind as the default, plus React, Next.js, shadcn/ui, Vue, Svelte, SwiftUI, Flutter, WPF, and more. The installer targets more than 20 agents, including Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI, GitHub Copilot, and OpenCode.
Installation and first run
In Claude Code, follow the README installation section: add the marketplace and install the plugin from the chat.
/plugin marketplace add nextlevelbuilder/ui-ux-pro-max-skill
/plugin install ui-ux-pro-max@ui-ux-pro-max-skill
For other agents, or to keep skill files inside your project, the README recommends the CLI. The npm package is ui-ux-pro-max-cli, and it installs the uipro command.
npm install -g ui-ux-pro-max-cli
cd /path/to/your/project
uipro init --ai claude # Claude Code
uipro init --ai cursor # Cursor
uipro init --ai codex # Codex CLI
Add --global, as in uipro init --ai claude --global, to make the skill available in every project, and use uipro init --dry-run to preview install actions before any file is written. The README warns that the older uipro-cli package is stale. The search scripts need Python 3.x, so run python3 --version first.
After installation there is nothing to memorize. In tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex CLI, the skill activates when you ask for UI work. Start with the README example.
Build a landing page for my SaaS product
Workflow-mode tools such as Kiro and Roo Code use a slash command: /ui-ux-pro-max Build a landing page for my SaaS product. On the first run, read the design system the agent chose before judging the screen. Whether it fits your product is the first signal to keep using the skill.
Scenario 1: Set the rules for a new landing page
Say you are building a landing page for an appointment-based spa. From the project root where the skill is installed, run the design system command from the README to see the recommendation before handing it to the agent.
python3 .claude/skills/ui-ux-pro-max/scripts/search.py "beauty spa wellness" --design-system -p "Serenity Spa"
The README's sample output proposes a hero and social proof pattern, a section order of services, testimonials, booking, and contact, a Soft UI style with gentle shadows, a soft pink, sage green, and gold CTA palette, and a Cormorant Garamond and Montserrat pairing. Anti-patterns include bright neon colors and AI-style purple and pink gradients. The checklist asks for SVG icons instead of emoji, at least 4.5:1 text contrast, visible keyboard focus, and responsive checks from 375px to 1440px.
Persist the result so the next session reuses the same rules. --persist writes design-system/<project>/MASTER.md, and --page adds a page-specific override under pages/.
python3 .claude/skills/ui-ux-pro-max/scripts/search.py "SaaS dashboard" --design-system --persist -p "MyApp" --page "dashboard"
For the next page, ask the agent to read MASTER.md first and prefer the page file when it exists, as the README describes. That keeps colors and fonts consistent when pricing and booking pages follow. The skill instructions skip writing when MASTER.md already exists, so rules your team agreed on are not silently replaced.
Scenario 2: Rework an operations dashboard for density
An internal operations dashboard has different needs from a marketing page. Information per screen matters more than whitespace, and heavy motion gets in the way. The design dials adjust this without changing the query. --variance moves from centered and minimal to bold and asymmetric, --motion from subtle micro-interactions to complex choreography, and --density from spacious to a dense dashboard spacing scale, each on a 1 to 10 range.
The README examples show a plain ops dashboard (before) restyled using only the generated design system (after), with these settings:
python3 .claude/skills/ui-ux-pro-max/scripts/search.py "internal operations dashboard" --design-system --density 8 --motion 3 --variance 4
High density, low motion, moderate variance. Open both links side by side to see how spacing, color, and hierarchy change the same data. The README labels this an illustrative, community-contributed example rather than an official demo, so treat it as a reference when choosing dial values.
Chart choice is another common sticking point. Once the design system is set, search chart types separately.
python3 .claude/skills/ui-ux-pro-max/scripts/search.py "dashboard" --domain chart
When you hand off to the agent, try "Lay out the metric cards and trend charts based on the design system and chart recommendations, and note the reason for each decision." Later, nobody has to dig through chat history to find out why a chart was chosen.
Scenario 3: Retheme an existing app and check before release
Production apps are rarely rebuilt from scratch. The more common request is "keep the structure and behavior, clean up the look." The README includes a dedicated prompt for applying a theme to an existing app.
Use the ui-ux-pro-max skill to retheme my existing React app.
Target style: Minimalism & Swiss Style.
First inspect the framework and styling-library versions, routes, components,
styles, and existing theme tokens. Keep the current component structure,
behavior, and business logic.
Reuse and update the existing semantic tokens for colors, typography, spacing,
radii, shadows, and interaction states; add missing tokens rather than creating
a parallel theme system. Replace hard-coded styles one component at a time.
Verify contrast, keyboard focus, responsive layouts, and all supported light/dark
modes. Summarize changed files and any remaining hard-coded styles.
The README checklist follows the same path. Audit hard-coded values such as bg-blue-600 or text-[#1e293b], map them to semantic roles like background, surface, primary, and border, migrate in small component batches, and verify contrast, focus, and responsive layouts after each batch. As the README notes, changing tokens alone does not affect styles that do not use them, so always ask for the list of remaining hard-coded styles.
Even without a retheme, the skill helps with pre-release checks. UX guidelines are prioritized across accessibility, touch targets, performance, layout, and form feedback, and the skill expects short queries for one concern at a time.
python3 .claude/skills/ui-ux-pro-max/scripts/search.py "error summary validation" --domain ux
python3 .claude/skills/ui-ux-pro-max/scripts/search.py "badge chip label wraps to second line" --domain ux
These catch issues reviews often miss, such as errors shown only at the top of a form or chip labels breaking onto two lines. The skill instructions recommend asking about one observable outcome at a time rather than "all of accessibility."
Which teams should explore it?
Useful capability: Solo builders and small teams who build screens with agents and no dedicated designer gain the most. The pattern, colors, fonts, and anti-patterns are decided before implementation and saved in MASTER.md, so the rules hold as screens multiply. Local search and human-readable output make recommendations easy to review.
Limitations: Recommendations are a starting point. The README states that search results provide design guidance and do not automatically rewrite your app. If your product already has an established brand guide and design system, tell the agent to prefer your own tokens and lean on the UX guidelines and checklist. Compare two or three query variations instead of accepting the first result as final. Human-readable output truncates long fields at 300 characters, so use --json for complete data.
Editions: The README separates this open source basic version from a paid premium version on uupm.cc that adds brand identity, logo, banner, and slide design plus an enterprise token architecture. Design system generation, style, color, and font search, and stack guidelines covered above are all part of the open source version. The repository updates often, so assign someone to refresh skill files with uipro update.
